Week 1 of the 2023 NFL Regular Season kicked off in full force this week. Someone may want to remind the New York Giants as the Dallas Cowboys throttled New York during the first half — and then the second half — of the Sunday Night Football opener.
Giants QB Daniel Jones’ was running for his life throughout the first two quarters. No one on the Giants offense was getting open, and the Cowboys defensive front, led by Micah Parsons, put on a clinic. The Giants didn’t help, allowing three sacks and committing three turnovers.
Social media had some thoughts.

Daniel Jones Struggles After New Contract
The Giants signed QB Daniel Jones to a contract extension this offseason, which raised eyebrows around the NFL. Jones evolved last season, his first under Giants’ head coach Brian Daboll. Jones and the Giants made the playoffs, and the team decided to reward Jones with a new contract.
Skepticism is high as Jones has struggled prior to the 2022 season. Will Jones return as the QB we saw last season, or will he regress to the version we saw before Daboll arrived in New York?

Jones wasn’t the only QB to struggle who just signed a new contract. Joe Burrow, Jalen Hurts, Lamar Jackson, and Geno Smith all struggled in their Week 1 opener. Will we see this again in Week 2? We’ll soon find out.
