How Many Draft Picks Do the Packers Have in 2023?

The Packers have 10 total draft selections in the 2023 NFL Draft. They’ve retained all of their original picks within the first five rounds. On top of that core capital, they have an additional compensatory pick in the fifth round and four seventh-round picks.

Green Bay has historically been one of the league’s most consistent squads when it comes to acquiring and keeping capital. They’ve had at least seven selections in each draft since 2004. And in the five drafts since Brian Gutekunst took over the general manager role in 2018, they’ve had 48 total picks.

That steady stream of picks has allowed the Packers to maintain a strong talent base, which they’ve used to stay in contention in the NFC through the latter years of the Aaron Rodgers era. When Rodgers is inevitably dealt to the New York Jets, the Packers will have even more capital to work with to help insulate Jordan Love in his first year as the starter.

After a late-season run in 2022, the Packers are positioned at 15th overall in the first round. That pick won’t put them in place to add a surefire blue-chip prospect, but teams in the mid-first-round range can capitalize on top-tier talents who slip.

Common matches for the Packers include Notre Dame TE Michael Mayer, Ohio State OT Paris Johnson Jr., Oklahoma OT Anton Harrison, and Alabama DB Brian Branch. Big EDGE prospects like Lukas Van Ness, Myles Murphy, and Tyree Wilson are also popular picks in mock drafts. Those are just a few potential outcomes for Green Bay in Round 1.

The only round in which the Packers are not represented is Round 6. Green Bay traded their 2023 sixth-round pick to the Rams in exchange for punter Corey Bojorquez ahead of the 2021 season. Bojorquez would only play one season for Green Bay, but the Packers did get a 2023 seventh-rounder back in that same deal.
