The unfortunate reality of the NFL is that when players are allowed to go full speed, injuries are bound to happen. Week 12 of the NFL season was no exception. Now that fantasy football managers are updating their lineups for the coming week, several players have found themselves on the injury report, leaving their status for Week 13 up in the air.
With the weekend vast approaching, which signal-callers are in jeopardy to miss Week 13?
Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals
Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official site reports Kyler Murray (ankle) practiced in a limited capacity Thursday [December 2].
Murray has yet to record a full practice but is expected to play in Week 13. However, he has been labeled a game-time decision for the last three games and missed each of them.
Justin Fields, Chicago Bears
Per the team’s injury report, Justin Fields (ribs) was a limited participant on Thursday. Fields was a limited participant on Wednesday as well as he deals with small rib fractures.
Daniel Jones, New York Giants
Dan Salomone of the Giants’ official site reports Daniel Jones (neck) was a limited participant on Thursday. Jones strained his neck on the second play of the game in Week 12 but managed to play the rest of the game. If Jones cannot play, Mike Glennon will get the start against the Miami Dolphins.
How is the injury bug affecting RB committees heading into Week 13? Will fantasy managers need to make backup plans just in case?
Chris Evans, Cincinnati Bengals
Jay Morrison of The Atheltic reports Chris Evans (ankle) was a non-participant for the second straight day.
Melvin Gordon, Denver Broncos
Aric DiLalla of the Broncos’ official site reports Melvin Gordon (hip/shoulder) did not participate on Thursday. Per Zac Stevens of TheDNVR.com, Gordon is considered 50/50 to play this weekend against Kansas City, according to coach Vic Fangio.
D’Andre Swift, Detroit Lions
Per the Lions’ injury report, D’Andre Swift was a non-participant on Thursday. The Lions have not officially ruled Swift out for Week 13, but the prevailing belief is that he will miss Sunday’s game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Swift is contending with an AC joint sprain of his shoulder and could miss multiple weeks. Jamaal Williams is expected to lead the backfield and has RB2 upside.
David Johnson, Houston Texans
Aaron Wilson of SportsTalk 790 Houston reports David Johnson (illness/thigh) did not practice Thursday. Several Texans are dealing with an illness and were DNPs Thursday, but there have been no reports to suggest this is a COVID-related illness.
Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings
Eric Smith of the Vikings’ official site reports Dalvin Cook was not at practice on Thursday. The Vikings have not officially ruled Cook out for Week 13 against the Detroit Lions, but he’s not expected to play. He could, in fact, miss multiple weeks due to the shoulder injury he sustained last week.
Boston Scott, Philadelphia Eagles
Chris Franklin of The Newark Star-Ledger reports Boston Scott (illness) was not in attendance for the Eagles’ practice Thursday. Scott has missed the Eagles’ first two practices of the week as he deals with a non-COVID-related illness.
Alex Collins, Seattle Seahawks
John Boyle of the Seahawks’ official site reports Alex Collins (abdomen) was limited at Thursday’s practice.
JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports J.D. McKissic (concussion) did not participate in Thursday’s practice. McKissic was placed in the NFL’s concussion protocol following last week’s game and is doubtful for Week 13.
News for pass catchers is essential in PPR leagues. These are the fantasy-relevant WRs currently on the NFL’s Week 13 injury report.
DeAndre Hopkins, Arizona Cardinals
According to Darren Urban of the Cardinals’ official site, DeAndre Hopkins (hamstring) was a limited practice participant Thursday.
There is an expectation that Hopkins will suit up Sunday, but it’s impossible to trust any rumors coming out of the team until we get closer to kickoff.
Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears
Per the team’s injury report, Allen Robinson (hamstring) was a non-participant Thursday. Robinson has yet to participate in a practice or game since coming out of the Bears’ Week 10 bye. He now appears set to miss his third contest in a row.
Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans
Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun reports Brandin Cooks (illness) did not participate in the Texans’ practice on Thursday. Cooks was listed as a DNP on Wednesday as well while he deals with a non-COVID-related illness.
Odell Beckham Jr., Los Angeles Rams
Lindsey Thiry of ESPN reports Odell Beckham Jr. (hip) didn’t practice Thursday. Beckham is currently dealing with a posterior hip pointer in his lower back following the Rams’ Week 12 loss at Green Bay, according to Josina Anderson of USA Today. There is optimism Beckham will be able to play through this injury.
Sterling Shepard, New York Giants
Per Art Stapleton of The Bergen Record, Sterling Shepard (quadriceps) was limited in practice on Thursday and is questionable for Week 13. This was the first time Shepard has been able to record a practice since he injured his quad against the Chiefs in Week 8. Shepard still appears to be quite a while away from suiting up for a game.
Kadarius Toney, New York Giants
Salomone of the Giants’ site reports Kadarius Toney (oblique/quadriceps) was a non-participant at Thursday’s practice. Toney was spotted working out with trainers on the side and appears set to miss his second straight game.
Corey Davis, New York Jets
Rich Cimini of ESPN reports Corey Davis (groin) was a non-participant for the Jets’ practice on Thursday. Davis sustained his groin injury in Week 11 against the Dolphins. He managed to record two limited practices last week but was eventually ruled out for Week 12. Davis seems to be trending for a similar game status in Week 13.
Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers
Per the teams’ injury report, Deebo Samuel (groin) was a non-participant Thursday. Samuel was spotted working on the side with trainers but is likely to miss at least Week 13 and potentially additional weeks after injuring his groin in Week 12. The 49ers and fantasy managers will need to adjust without the No. 2 WR in fantasy scoring on their roster.
John Keim of ESPN reports Curtis Samuel (groin) was a limited participant on Thursday. Samuel was able to play in Week 12 but seems to still be less than 100% due to a groin injury that has been ailing him since June.
Washington was cautious with Samuels’ snaps on Sunday (20) and is expected to keep them in check again in Week 13 as they slowly ramp up his volume.
TE Injury Update
Which tight end injuries should we be mindful of when setting our Week 13 fantasy lineups? Who is in danger of missing their next game?
Cole Kmet, Chicago Bears
According to the Bears’ injury report, Cole Kmet (groin) was a limited participant on Thursday. Kmet sat out Wednesday’s practice but is trending towards playing on Sunday.
Pat Freiermuth, Pittsburgh Steelers
According to the Steelers’ injury report, Pat Freiermuth (concussion) was a full participant for Thursday’s practice. Freiermuth has logged back-to-back FPs after sustaining a concussion in Week 12. Friday’s report will reveal whether or not he has cleared the NFL’s concussion protocol.
