TE Streamers for Week 7
Rather than focus on the top-tier fantasy football players, let’s look at the tight ends who might be going under the radar for Week 7. For this, we are using FleaFlicker and their availability percentage with a cut-off at 60%, meaning many of these TEs should be available in your fantasy football league.
For at least one more week, Ricky Seals-Jones has become a must-start in fantasy, which clearly puts him in streamer territory. Seals-Jones saw 6 targets last week, finishing with 4 receptions for 58 yards and a score against the Chiefs.
That gives him two solid games in a row after seeing heavy usage in Week 5, recording 5 receptions on 9 targets for 41 yards. Washington is dealing with a rash of injuries to pass catchers, which has forced Seals-Jones into a prominent role in the offense.
Over the last three weeks, Seals-Jones has played on 97.3% of the offensive snaps and has seen 16.8% of the targets. He gets the Packers in Week 7, who are 19th vs. TEs, allowing 13.65 points per game. Add in Washington’s likelihood of playing from behind, and Seals-Jones could be in for a busy day in Week 7.
O.J. Howard, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Who saw 7 targets for O.J. Howard coming last week? Because I sure didn’t. Howard finished as the TE4 on the week with 6 receptions for 49 yards and a TD in the Buccaneers’ Week 6 win over the Eagles. He could very well be in for another solid outing.
As of now, Rob Gronkowski (ribs) is still unavailable for Tampa, and it seems unlikely he plays Sunday vs. the Bears. Furthermore, WR Antonio Brown is also injured with a sprained ankle.
That’s Tom Brady’s two favorite targets this season possibly down for the count in Week 7. Despite the Bears being a difficult matchup for TEs (No. 5), I can see Howard having another solid game if Gronkowski is out. Add in Brown, and Howard has high-end TE2 upside and is a streamer to keep in mind as rosters are set in Week 7.
Ross Dwelley, San Francisco 49ers
For those going all-or-nothing at TE this week, take a hard look as Ross Dwelley of the San Francisco 49ers. In the past, we have seen backup tight ends have success filling in for George Kittle, especially in advantageous matchups. Dwelley even found the end zone in Week 4 but has seen limited opportunities (3 targets). However, he played 91% of San Francisco’s snaps in Week 5 before the club went on their bye.
The 49ers have had an extra week to prepare and are likely to get Jimmy Garoppolo back under center as Trey Lance deals with a knee injury. The Colts are No. 26 in points allowed to TEs (17.07), but a significant portion of that did come via Mark Andrews putting on his Jansport and carrying the Baltimore offense.
Still, I think there is a case for Dwelley to be in that TE2 conversation this week. Should you find yourself affected by the brutal bye week, Dwelley is on the short-list of potential TE fantasy streamers for Week 7.
